Graham Hawkes Speaking Topics

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Our Ocean Planet - As we enter the 21st century, we wonder what dramatic new developments await. One profound development is inevitable and predicable: Earth's oceans are a huge, untapped resource inextricably tied to the health of our planet in ways we now are just beginning to understand.
  • Journey to the Bottom of the Ocean - As terrestrials, we are essentially captive to the outermost layer of our planet, while all other life moves about in the 2/3 of our planet which is covered by water. Hawkes Ocean Technologies is only one of two organizations worldwide who are designing manned submersibles to access full ocean depth.
  • The Bermuda Triangle and the Disappearance of Flight 19 - In 1991, while sweeping the Bahamas Channel for ancient shipwrecks, Graham Hawkes and his team discovered five intact Navy Avenger aircraft - arranged on the ocean floor as if they were all ditched together in an exercise that went very wrong. Could this be the same Flight 19 that began the myth of the Bermuda Triangle?
  • Pirates and Porcelain - a Shipwreck story in the South China Sea - A true story about modern day pirates and ancient porcelain. In the late 1700's, the British EastIndiaman, The Royal Captain, sank in the South China Sea. The first mate dutifully recorded her sinking, and managed to save the ship's log, but no remains of the ship could be found until 1994 when Graham Hawkes and Franck Goddio found her at 1600 feet.
  • To Fly Underwater - You don't have to be a pilot or a scuba diver to appreciate the beauty and excitement of actually flying underwater·.barrell rolling with dolphins and whales, dancing with giant mantas, and charging after the never-before seen (alive) giant squid.

Other Topics
