The Deep Flight 502 (DF Aviator) is a state-of-the-art, two person, winged submersible that is being purpose-built to push the limits of underwater technology and to fully explore the concept of underwater flight. Sleek and elegant, the DF Aviator is the world's first underwater flight trainer and will be used to introduce the public to flying side by side with dolphins, whales and other big mammals, searching for and finding the elusive giant squid, exploring ancient deepwater shipwrecks, documenting new geology and life in the oceans, and many more exciting adventures. The DF Aviator is the newest submersible from world renowned engineer, Graham Hawkes, designer of over 75% of submersibles in use for science and exploration, including the Deep Flight winged submersible. The first DF Aviator craft, "Spirit" will be launched in 2001, and is being built in partnership with Spirit of Adventure, a small group of like-minded individuals who are dedicated to pushing the envelope of underwater technology, re-inventing the concept of adventure and exploration, and introducing the public to the wonders of deep sea exploration.
