Great White Shark Expedition: October, 2011

Guadalupe Island, Mexico

In October, 2011, Hawkes Ocean Technologies in a joint expedition with Virgin Oceanic, brought the Super Falcon to Guadalupe Island off of Mexico’s west coast in search of great white sharks.  Guadalupe Island is a steep rocky outcropping, and famous for being a feeding ground for great whites.  Graham and Sir Richard Branson had a wonderful encounter with a large female, who sized up the Super Falcon as being one of its own kind.  The expedition also showed off the use of the Cheyenne, an ocean going catamaran once owned by Steve Fossett and specially configured to be a submersible launch and recovery vessel.
